Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Tim Stafford and Steve Gulley’s song “There Ain’t No Good Way To Go” from their forthcoming bluegrass album Still Here, due out this Friday. Still Here was produced by Tim Stafford and Steve Gulley, engineered and mixed by Jim Price, and recorded at Hat Creek Recording Company in Jonesborough, TN, March 2020.
“There Ain’t No Good Way To Go” is Tim Stafford on guitar and vocals; Steve Gulley on vocals; Ron Stewart on banjo and fiddle; Barry Bales on bass; Thomas Cassell on mandolin; and Dale Ann Bradley on harmony vocals. Gulley & Stafford are able to combine confronting mortality with an uplifting zeal here in classic, frolicking bluegrass style.
This is one of those swingy, E-position Bluegrass songs in the spirit of Clyde Moody’s ‘Six White Horses’ and ‘How Did That Turn Into My Problem’ from our first solo record, Dogwood Winter. Steve had a line, ‘There ain’t no Headstones for heartaches,’ that we were able to use here. — Tim Stafford
