Americana Highways presents this sneak preview video premiere of Jessica Lynn’s Christmas song “It’s Just Not Christmas.” Jessica and her father Peter Calamera co-produced the song.
The video was filmed at Jessica Lynn’s adolescent dance teacher’s home: Darcy, of Darcy’s Academy of Dance. And at a theater Lynn acted as a child: Yorktown Stage. It was directed by Sean Tracy of Monstrinthedark. Watch the video for a double dose Jessica Lynn’s palpable emotional projection — from both the song and the visual effects. If you’re wishing for something Santa can’t bring this year, stop a moment and give this one from Jessica Lynn a little of your attention.
I honestly never thought releasing a sad Christmas song would be something I’d ever do but sometimes life has other plans for you. This song means so much to me and it’s been amazing that fans from around the world have connected with it in a special way. In planning this music video, I wanted to let the lyrics shine. It is such a simple piece of music that I felt the video should be very intimate although it is extremely different from the type of content I usually put out. My last music videos were super high energy with a lot of movement and action. I let the music guide me to what felt right this time around. It was difficult to film as I have a lot of emotion surrounding this song, and as you see in the video, I am extremely close to breaking down so many times throughout, but I think that pure and raw emotion was how this story really needed to be told. — Jessica Lynn
