Video Premiere: South For Winter “Stone”

Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways is pleased to premiere this video of South For Winter’s song “Stone,” which appeared on the band’s recent release in October, Luxumbra.  Luxumbra was produced, mixed, and edited by Matt Leigh; engineered by Bryce Roberts; recorded at The Tracking Room studio and mastered by Mauricio Gargel.

“Stone” was written by Dani Cichon and Nick Stone. Musicians on the song are Nick Stone on acoustic guitar and vocals; Dani Cichon on vocals; Alex Stradal on cello; Chris Kearney on percussion and Evan Clifton on trombone.

The video was filmed and edited by Chase Lyons Videography with featured aerialist Michelle Reppert.

In breathtaking landscapes, highlighting light and the sun, South for Winter sings of painted skies and lost loves. You won’t be able to help yourself; you’ll cry along with the band for the one that got away on this one.  Listen and see for yourself.

Filming the music video for ‘Stone’ was one of my favorite moments in our music. I met Shelly (the featured aerialist) at the bar where I work, and mentioned to Dani that it might be cool to have an aerialist in one of our music videos. We started batting around the idea of having Shelly perform in ‘Stone.’ Just a few days before we were meant to start filming, I called and asked her to be a part of it. She didn’t even hesitate – just said yes immediately. Even though we knew we wanted to film at golden hour, though, we didn’t exactly lock in a location (classic artists, leaving everything to the last minute) – so there was a lot of stress on the day-of, and trying to figure out where to film as we ran out of daylight. Then, we stumbled across the clearing you see in the video. The light and the setting were perfect. Shelly set up and started performing, Chase started filming, and all four of us in the band just kind of stood there with our mouths open. We couldn’t believe how well everything fell into place. It was really magical, and Chase did a great job of capturing that magic in the video. — Nick Stone
