Americana Highways brings you this song premiere and video teaser of Patrick Davis’ interpretation of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” from his album Couch Covers. Couch Covers was produced by Patrick Davis, engineered by Lee Unfried and mixed by Mark Dearnley. The song is performed by Patrick Davis on vocals; Jedd Hughes on acoustic guitar; Tom Bukovac on electric guitar; Mark Hill on bass; Fred Eltringham on drums; Tim Lauer on piano; Max Abrams on sax; Steve Patrick on trumpet; Kristen Rogers on backing vocals.
It’s standard narrative to classify songs like “Imagine” as timeless; however, the current state of affairs really calls for it more than other times seem to have, and Patrick Davis understands this intrinsically. His vocals will become your own personal energy from the opening note. Press play and see for yourself.
“Imagine” is one of those classic songs that has already been recorded perfectly. I recognize it was a bit of a bold move to record it for my “Couch Covers” album, but I believe the message inside these lyrics is just as important today as it was for John Lennon 50 years ago. In that way, I’m showing respect to Lennon and his iconic song, and continuing to spread the important message with my own version of the song. – Patrick Davis
