Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this song premiere of Carla Olson (of the Textones)’s “Timber” from her new duets album Have Harmony Will Travel 2, with Steve McCarthy of the Long Ryders.  The album is due out on Sunset Blvd Records on March 20. It features duo performances with Stephen McCarthy (The Long Ryders), Timothy B. Schmit (Eagles), Terry Reid, Peter Noone (Herman’s Hermits), Percy Sledge, Gene Clark and more.

From the powerful introduction to the mighty finish, Carla Olson captures the intensity of falling in love with this version of Kostas’ timeless song.   Olson’s vocal harmonies with Steve McCarthy will give you hopeful goosebumps.

I’ve been playing Patty Loveless’s version of “Timber” around the house for decades and contemplating recording it. When I recently began working with Stephen McCarthy of the Long Ryders, a longtime friend, we agreed it might make for a perfect song to cut together. And we think it did. “Timber” was written by Kostas whose songs have been recorded by artists ranging from Etta James to Neil Diamond as well as the Mavericks and Tanya Tucker.  —Carla Olson
