Americana Highways presents this video premiere of Annette Wasilik’s “The World is on Fire” from her forthcoming album Love & Fire, due to be released on January 31. Love & Fire was produced by Charlie Pilzer and Annette Wasilik at Tonal Park at Azalea City Recordings, with graphic design by Ruthie Logsdon and photography by Dominic Cicala.
“The World is on Fire” is Annette Wasilik on lead vocals and guitar; Jeff Karnn on mandolin and vocal harmony; Brian Evans on guitar and vocal harmony; and not appearing in the video: John Previti on bass; Steve Bloom on percussion.
The video was produced by Tom Clement. A delightful opening hook will draw you in to a place you’ll want to inhabit with Annette Wasilik. Mournful and achingly true, one listen and you’ll be hooked from the hushed harmonies to the delicate stringed arrangements to the honest lyrics.
I wrote The World is on Fire in the winter and we videoed it in late fall. If you look closely, you can see our noses and ears turning red with the cold. Ironic, eh? — Annette Wasilik

I first heard Annette sing this song under the BOT at the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival last summer. Haunting and beautiful, thanks Annette.
