Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this song premiere of Amanda Anne Platt and the Honeycutters’ “Christmas on a Greyhound Bus,” which was produced by Amanda Anne Platt; recorded, mixed and mastered by Clay Miller at Crossroads Studios, Arden, NC, with cover design by Audrey Fletcher, Crossroads Music. “Christmas on a Greyhound Bus” is Amanda Anne Platt on lead vocals, harmony vocals, and acoustic guitar; Matthew Smith on pedal steel and electric guitar; Evan Martin on drums, piano, organ, percussion, and vocals; and Rick Cooper on bass, upright bass, acoustic guitar, and vocals.

Over images of a Waffle House, loneliness and drinking tequila on a Greyhound Bus, Amanda Anne Platt and the Honeycutters have crafted a true-to-reality perspective on Christmas. This is exactly what we all need this season.

“Christmas on a Greyhound Bus” is song I started writing a long time ago, one holiday season when I was traveling to see family and imagining what it would feel like to be without any ties at that time of year…the loneliness or possibly the exhilarating freedom of having nothing to lose, heading to someplace like Vegas with a bunch of other people in a similar situation. I finished it one day last summer when we had a day off in Kansas… I guess something there just put me in the spirit. — Amanda Anne Platt
