Song Premiere: Hugh Masterson’s “Hollywood”

Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Hugh Masterson’s from his album due out next spring. “Hollywood” features the Lone Bellow, and was produced by Justin Glasco, and is Hugh Masterson on guitar and vocals; Justin Glasco on drums and organ; James Robertson on guitar; Nick Bearden on bass; Brian Elmquist and Zach Williams on background vocals. It was mastered by Hans DeKline, and Jason Pipkin engineered the background vocals. It will be available on November 1st courtesy of Rock Ridge Music.

With its high energy arrangement, “Hollywood” will place you squarely in the heart of the city, thanks to Hugh Masterson.  And then it’ll remind you of sorting through the pages of the human condition.

While I was on a two-month-long tour with The Lone Bellow, we found ourselves with a few days off in Hollywood. We spent a lot of time walking around in the weirdness. One of the days, it rained all day so we sat on the porch and came up with this song from our experiences. I recorded it live in Nashville at Justin Glasco’s studio, and he played drums and engineered, James Bearden played bass, and James Robertson played guitar. After we got the song in a good spot, I went to Jason and Kanene Pipkins house, and Jason used his home studio to record Zach and Brian’s vocals for the chorus. — Hugh Masterson
