Samantha Fish played two sold out shows with Marc Broussard at the legendary Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, CA. The Belly Up has hosted top musicians of all genres including The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Buffett, Ziggy Marley, and B.B. King. In the future, Samantha will be added to that list.

A friend of mine raved about Samantha Fish when she came to play another legendary, but much smaller club in San Diego, The Casbah, a couple years ago. I checked her out online and liked what I heard. I finally got to see her live when I covered the Old Settler’s Music Festival for Americana Highways in April 2019. I liked her music but I was not prepared for the energy and charisma of a live Samantha Fish performance. She reminds me a lot of another of my favorite performers, Grace Potter. Not only can she wail on the guitar, Fish has a voice that can equally deliver a soulful ballad or rock the house!

Of the 500 plus people at the sold out Belly Up shows at least one-quarter to one-half were there to see Samantha, and she was the opening act. Fish is on the road promoting her latest album, Kill or be Kind. After her set the line to meet Samantha and buy merch was about 100 people deep. She was signing and posing for photos well into Broussard’s set.

Samantha’s set consisted mostly of songs from her new album. She opened with the rocking “Bulletproof”, followed by the title track “Kill or Be Kind”. She did a couple cover song, Little Baby” by the Blue Rondos and she closed her set with “Crow Jane Blues” by Julius Daniels.

If Samantha Fish is the future of blues music, blues music is going to be very popular once again. https://www.samanthafish.com
