The Art Inside the Craft: Magnolia Boulevard

Listen & Watch Video: Art Inside the Craft

The Art Inside the Craft is my exploration into the creative process of individuals who not only have a physical craft that they work, but also have an art, the “expression of human creative skill and imagination,” which affects the physical product. The symbiotic relationship between the physical act of creating, and the artistic way in which an individual interjects unique and subtle elements to that creation absolutely fascinates me. My own desires to understand, and apply what these artisans have captured, has lead me to this new series.

Magnolia Boulevard is a Lexington, Kentucky based band that in 2018 and 2019 won Best Rock Band at the Lexington Music Awards, voted first place by fans at Floydfest’s “On the Rise” Competition, and were invited by Paul Reed Smith to perform at the companies Experience PRS event.  Earlier in 2019 they were invited by Paul Reed Smith to perform at NAMM in Los Angeles and also kicked off the Grateful Dead after party at Chicago’s famous The Metro.  In November 2019 they will be kicking off their first nationwide tour with Blues Traveler.

Each of the videos below has a different live performance from Chicago’s Taste of Randolph Street, as well as various photos and video from their soundcheck at The Metro Chicago. My co-content creator, Roderick Hullaby, came along as we made the 8 hour round trip to interview these fantastic musicians. We hope you enjoy this conversation with the band.
