Song Premiere: Small Town Therapy’s “McAlpine’s” from “Dreams and Circumstances”

Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Small Town Therapy’s ” McAlpine’s” from their upcoming release Dreams And Circumstances. “McAlpine’s” was engineered by Billy Barnett at Gung Ho Studios in Eugene, Oregon.  “McAlpine’s” is Adam Roszkiewicz on mandolin, Leif Karlstrom on 5 string violin and features Eli West on guitar.

With an adept instrumentalism that’s a special discovery these days, Dreams and Circumstances is an improvisational old-time mountain music offering.  “McAlpine’s” is an instrumental presentation with a timeless expression.

I wrote most of this tune while waiting for some friends to pick me up. It was sort of a little challenge to myself to come up with am idea, develop it a few different ways and then finish it as fast as possible. McAlpine is the name of a street in East Nashville that sounds vaguely Scottish, and although this tune really has little to do with Scottish music, it seemed appropriate. We knew that Eli West has some Celtic guitar moves in his back pocket so we asked him to play on it and worked it up in the studio. I like the idea that the composition, arrangement, and recording of this tune all happened very quickly and spontaneously. — Adam Roszkiewicz
