Del Amitri’s Change Everything is one of my all-time favorite albums. It’s easily a consistent top five desert isle album, anytime I’m faced with that question. It’s a releaseĀ that I never tire of, and one that I consider one of the most impactful albums of my life. With that said, you’ll understand my interest in an auction and raffle that is scheduled to begin May 1st . Joey’s Song works to raise money for epilepsy through music. Joey’s Song began in 2010 following the death of five year old Joey Gomoll, who suffered from a rare form of epilepsy known as Dravet Syndrome, that caused persistent seizures as well as learning disabilities. Though Dravet’s stole Joey’s ability to speak, he was a happy child that loved music, and would hum and drum along. Joey’s love for music seemed the perfect conduit for a foundation for raising awareness as well as a fund raising.Ā
Joey’s father, Michael is a longtime friend of Del Amitri frontman, Justin Currie. During a trip to Glasgow last year, the two of them tore through some of Currie’s storage and put together some unique Del Amitri memorabilia that Currie has graciously donatedĀ to be auctioned/raffled for Joey’s Song.Ā These items include some of Currie’s notebooks, backstage laminates/passes, original working drafts of lyrics, a signed guitar an much more.
