Video Premiere: Jonathan Byrd’s “Temporary Tattoo” Video from “Pickup Cowboy”

Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of  Jonathan Byrd’s “Temporary Tattoo” from his recent release Pickup Cowboy.  The album features Jonathan Byrd, Johnny Waken, with Paul Ford (cello, bass),  Joanna Miller (drums), with Alexa Dirks and Andrina Turenne contributing vocals. Pickup Cowboy was recorded by Jerry Brown at The Rubber Room in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and also by Len Milne at Bedside Studios in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

This video of “Temporary Tattoo” was created by Red Barn Studio Live Sessions Video (from Fayetteville Roots Festival) and features Jonathan Byrd and Johnny Waken.  It’s a stripped down, raw performance with all the gorgeous space you need to pay attention and really listen, and once you do you’re in for a treat.  Between the facetious lines “I was always true as a temporary tattoo,” and the trill of the saw instrument, and the old carbon microphone, this one is one of a kind.

Christine Lavin called Temporary Tattoo “…the most honest love song I’ve ever heard.” This performance features Johnny Waken on the musical saw. Johnny plays several instruments in our band. The saw is by far the most difficult one to get onto a domestic flight.
