Adam Klein “Faithful Brigade”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Adam Klein’s song “Faithful Brigade” from his forthcoming album Live at Leesta Vall Sound Recordings, which is set for release on on April 3rd on his Cowboy Angel Music label. The album was recorded live to lathe-cut vinyl on July 20th, 2019, at Leesta Vall Sound Recordings in Brooklyn, NY. It was mixed and mastered by Damon Moon at Standard Electric Recorders Co. in Scottdale, Georgia.

“Faithful Brigade” is Adam Klein on acoustic guitar and vocals; and Adam Poulin on violin.

As Adam tells us about this song, “I wrote “Faithful Brigade” years ago—probably in 2011 or 2012—during a string of weeks in Nicaragua leading service learning programs for college students. During that trip and others there, I was taken by the history, the people, the land itself, and heard (and later read) compelling stories about the Sandinista revolution. It seemed like such a foreign thing to my American sensibilities and experience at the time, and the place and its stories became awash with a sense of mystique and even romanticism for me. I wondered how I would respond in the face of a revolution and imagined joining a brigade of freedom fighters. I ended up writing a whole album inspired by Nicaragua. It was recorded years ago but was set aside for other projects and still needs to be mixed and mastered. Two songs from the Nicaragua record, Tropical Bones, are on this new album (Live at Leesta Vall Sound Recordings) and seeing release for the first time. I’ve always felt connected to the Nica tunes, so I’m happy to have this acoustic duo version of “Faithful Brigade” premiere here on Americana Highways and find its way out at last on Live at Leesta Vall.”

Good music, natural sounding guitar and violin playing and an honest vocal unify in a song about the beauty of Nicaragua. Adam Klein demonstrates just what’s beautiful and compelling about any place you’ve found breathtaking, and which you may long for after you’ve left it behind.  It’s emotionally gripping.
