Corb Lund at Ramona Mainstage with Branson Anderson opening
Corb Lund and his band played a powerfully spirited set to a capacity crowd at the historic Mainstage in Ramona, CA. Corb is from Saskatchewan, Canada and many of his songs reflect just that. This was evident in many of the songs in the band’s setlist, including the opening song “Hurtin’ Albertan.” Other cowboy themed songs in the set were “(You Ain’t a Cowboy) If You Ain’t Been Bucked Off,” “Cows Around” and “The Rodeo’s Over.”
Other songs in the set included “I Wanna Be in the Calvary,” “All I Wanna Do is Play Cards” which he said was inspired by his grandfather and avid gambler, “Goodbye Colorado” and “The Gothiest Girl I Can.”
His encore consisted of, “S Lazy H,” “Amarillo By Morning” a George Strait cover and my favorite Corb Lund song, “Dig Gravedigger Dig.”
Corb’s band “The Hurtin’ Albertans” is made up of Sean Burns on bass, Grant “Demon” Siemens on guitar and Lyle Molzan on drums.
The show opened with Branson Anderson, originally from a small town in Nevada, he now splits his time in Wyoming, Arizona, and Utah. Branson is influenced by old school western music like Hank Williams and Buck Owens, but he also says modern rockers like Jack White, blues great Robert Johnson and folk legend Bob Dylan also inspire his songwriting and guitar playing, which is inspiring and exciting.
