Americana Highways presents this premiere of Kid Reverie and Chris William’s song “Bees” from their forthcoming EP.   This song was written and performed by Chris Williams and Kid Reverie (aka Steve Varney of the Gregory Alan Isakov Band). It was mixed and engineered by Andrew Berlin (Grammy Nominated for “Evening Machines”) at The Blasting Room In Fort Collins, Colorado and mastered by Dave Wilton at Coalesce Audio in Lafayette, Colorado.

Musicians on “Bees” are Kid Reverie on vocals, guitars and other instruments; Chris Williams on vocals, guitars and other instruments; John Paul Grigsby (Gregory Alan Isakov band) on bass; Jeb Bows (Gregory Alan Isakov Band) on violin; Max Barcelow (Gregory Alan Isakov) on drums; and Russick Smith on cello.

As Chris Williams describes the song’s beginnings: “Steve came into one of our last writing sessions for the new EP with the idea for “Bees.” It was born of a day spent in California observing a honeybee quietly at work and considers how essential work is often done without applause, while we rush past it believing ourselves separate from what quietly sustains us.”

This is bright layers of stringed sonic goodness leading up to crystal clear vocal reflections and then a touch of dissonance appears as the listener is held is rapt attention in tension and crescendo. The kernel of truth is delivered: It’s all so much talk, selfish consumption and greed; as the truth speaks in sparingly in whispers while everything humans strive for goes up in flames.
