Ken Park “Sleep Paralysis”

Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Ken Park’s song “Sleep Paralysis” from his forthcoming self-titled album, which is set for release on February 26. Ken Park was produced and mixed by Mike Fridmann, and mastered by Greg Obis.

“Sleep Paralysis” is Ken Park on vocals, guitars, synth, and keys.

This video was directed by Pooneh Ghana.  This song contains a palpably raw, slightly bewildered vibe.  Grainy video footage of Ken in woodsy natural settings looking like he may just be waking up help support the dark, disorienting feel of the song as it really hits the nail of the feeling of sleep paralysis on the head.

As Ken explains about the song: “Sleep paralysis is a state where the mind wakes before the body—where you’re aware of your own vulnerability but powerless to act. It’s something many of us experience at some point, and this song became my way of giving voice to that feeling of being stuck: wanting something intensely while knowing it remains frustratingly, persistently just out of reach.”
