Mike Mattison & Trash Magic “And I’m Gone”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Mike Mattison’s new song “And I’m Gone,” which was recorded by Mike Mattison & Trash Magic for their new album Turn A Midnight Corner set for release on Jan 16 via Landslide Records. Turn A Midnight Corner was produced by Jason Kingsland and Mike Mattison with executive producers Gus and Kristen Wakat. It was engineered by Spencer Barn and Tyler Greenwell; mixed by Jason Kingsland at Frenchtown Sound; and mastered by Eric Conn at Independent Mastering. It was recorded at Studio MG in Roswell, GA and at Diamond Street Studio in Atlanta, GA.

“And I’m Gone” is Mike Mattison on vocals and acoustic guitar; Tyler (The Falcon) Greenwell on drums and percussion; Dave Yoke on guitar; Greg Spradlin on guitar; and Wesley Flowers on bass and keyboards.
As Mike tells us, “I always liked the be-bop phrase, “And I’m gone.” Just the petulant childishness of it. That’s basically what this song is about: “If we’re not gonna have fun, I’m outta here.” Somebody also asked what we’re chanting in the breakdown: “Slicing up that dollar,” means being cheap. “Who’s that slicing up that dollar?,” means DON’T BE CHEAP! Because fun is expensive — on many levels — and you gotta want it!”
This song is hand clappin’ get-up-and-dance fun. A rockabilly be-bop and the chorus is especially memorable.
