Red Eye Ruby “Rejection Is Divine Protection”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Red Eye Ruby’s song “Rejection Is Divine Protection” from their forthcoming album The Gospel According to the Rock n’ Roll Priestess, due out later this year. The album was produced and recorded by Matt Patrick at the Library Studio in Minneapolis. This song was written by Ruby Blu and Matt Patrick.
“Rejection Is Divine Protection” is Ruby Blu on vocals; Mike Drager on guitars; Matt Patrick on bass; Jon Ross on drums; and Stephen Kung on trumpet.
As Ruby Blu tells us, “I wrote this during a chapter of my life where everything felt like it was falling apart— friendships, opportunities, chances at love. But I kept noticing that every ‘no’ was like a secret a re-direct— like Spirit picking me up and putting me on a new, better path. I talk about spirit guides — those unseen protectors who speak through our intuition and gut feelings to help us choose what’s in our highest good — and this song is all about trusting that unseen protection. It is also about learning to transmute pain into wisdom. This is a novel idea for a song – maybe rejection in any form just saves us from heartache and worse down the line. Ruby Blu‘s vocals somehow sound like your bff is singing it to you. The video is equal parts rebellious and smoothly empowered. Nicely done.
