Each member of Copper Flats told us a bit about the song. Brandon Kelly tells us, “To me, ‘Out of Town’ captures the feeling of being worn down and then a huge wave of release that comes with Friday night and the promise of a getaway. It creates a feeling of escaping the stress and responsibilities of our schedules by leaving worries ‘in the dust’ and getting ‘some breathin’ room.’ The verses describe how I feel when I finally get the opportunity to have some ‘me time,’ and there’s something about getting to do the things you love with chosen company. I hope it’s a song that makes you realize that it’s ok to recharge and be content with the simple things you enjoy. Like your faith, your family, and your friends. At the end of the day, those are the only things that truly matter.”

Jeremy Castaldo said, “This song invites listeners to slow down and recharge in nature. The song reflects the fast pace of everyday life — balancing responsibilities, work, and endless to-dos — and celebrates the freedom that comes from setting it all aside to find peace somewhere ‘out of town.’ We hope it reminds people that it’s okay to step away and reconnect with what matters. Hunt. Hike. Camp. Spend time with family and friends. Get outside and truly live. Recording this song was a blast! The uptempo, pedal-down vibe was different from the other songs we had done. Being creative and thinking outside of the box with different instruments and sounds was a good time.”

And Drew Smith shared that: “‘Out of Town’ was our way of putting music to that feeling most people get on Friday afternoon when they leave work after a long week. A sort of ‘weekend anthem,’ if you will. For me, this song reminds me of fall, when the air is just getting crisp and the leaves start changing colors. I always look forward to camping with friends, hunting, driving backroads, or sitting around a fire telling stories. Writing ‘Out of Town’ came from a place of us talking about the need to disconnect from our busy schedules and being able to make room to connect with God, friends, family, or just get to a place outside where you can rest. Can’t wait for everyone to hear this one!”

This song is about needing to leave the daily grind behind sometimes, hit the road and escape: “Gonna head out west til the blacktop ends, straight for the woods on some public land. Don’t care what comes next, I’m just livin’ free.” It’s uplifting and hits glorious heights.
