Duane Hoover “I Can’t Decide”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Duane Hoover’s song “I Can’t Decide,” from his forthcoming album Magic Mirror Storybook, which is set for release in October. Magic Mirror Storybook was recorded at Duane’s home studio and produced by Duane as well.
“I Can’t Decide” is Duane on guitars and vocals; and Anthony Krizan on bass and drums.
As Duane says, “I wanted a song so simple like Katy Perry’s ‘Hot N Cold.’ So simple and catchy that younger kids could sing along.” Following on the heels of his album Wayward Path just released earlier this year, Duane’s follow up album contains songs that rock in NYC punk-style Kinks-flavored fashion.
“I Can’t Decide” provides the kind of catchy, memorable hook that shapes songs with lasting power. Duane captures the mood of the times with: “a midnight ride with captain courageous doesn’t seem to be right now so contagious, we’re sailing into a storm of controversy … I can’t decide what’s right or what’s wrong,” but at the same time there’s plenty of early Beatles-esque harmonies and driving and distorted 70s style rhythms amidst the bending guitar riffs, which automatically yield head bobbing and toe tapping while you absorb it all.
