Cotton field the magnetism of electric blues and harmonica pull you in, to “the truth that can console,” it’s the blues, “a life worth sticking around for, for music free from woe … crying from the soul.” It’s a tribute to the Clarksdale Delta blues, and an excellent one at that, with lap steel, organ, and a gritty groove.”
For years, most of the world’s cotton came out of the Mississippi Delta. Folks thought “King Cotton” would last forever. But today, cotton ain’t king; blues is the king. I wrote the song lyrics to tell the story of the blues and its impact on the world that has gone far beyond cotton. In terms of sound, the Tellers and I tried capture the essence of the Delta…the feel of the blues that bubbled up out of that cotton ground so long ago. – Christopher Wyze
