Alex Krawczyk “Love Through Sound”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Alex Krawczyk’s song “Love Through Sound,” co-written with Robbie Roth, from her forthcoming album. The album was produced by Robbie Roth, recorded at Union Sound in Toronto; and engineered and mixed by Chris Stringer with assistance from Darren McGill and associate editor Chris Snow. It was mastered by Joao Carvalho. Cover art is courtesy of Lauren Charyk Silverberg.
“Love Through Sound” is Alex Krawczyk on lead vocals; Robbie Roth on lead guitar, acoustic guitar and background vocals; Tim Bovaconti and Caroline Marie Brooks on electric guitars; Devon Henderson on bass; Davide DiRenzo on drums and percussion; and Robbie Grunwald on piano and keyboards.
This video was created by Rod Christie. Titles of Grateful Dead songs are patched together in a brilliant sonic mosaic in this song: ” Casey Jones you’ve got me riding high / Ravens soaring through the desert night / All your tender rhythms do provide love through sound / Take me down to the Cumberland mine / Play your hand and do it slow and right / Words aglow showing so much light love through sound.” Jamband music in the style of the Dead is really appealing and Alex’s songbird vocals give it fresh new heights. The video is an amalgamation of feasts for the eyes, and the whole package is bursting with love. A loving tribute for Jerry Garcia’s birthday.
In tribute to the spirit Grateful Dead, we wanted the “Love Through Sound” recording experience to be communal and connective. Listening intently to each other, the seven of us approached recording the old fashionedway – live, off the floor while leaving space for one another to explore musical ideas and try different ways of expressing the song. “Love Through Sound’ is one of the first songs Robbie and I started writing together many years ago, and I am very happy with how it turned out in the studio. – Alex
