Hannah DeLynn – “Blood Alone”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of  Hannah Delynn’s song “Blood Alone” (co-written with Maya de Vitry) from Hannah’s forthcoming album Trust Fall, which was produced by Maya de Vitry; engineered by Ethan Jodziewicz with additional engineering by Alex Wilder; mixed by Jason Richmond; and mastered by John McLaggen. The album was recorded at “In the Pines” cabin in Monteagle, TN, and at The Secret Woods in Nashville, and will be available on September 5. This song is coming out on June 20.

“Blood Alone” is Hannah Delynn on vocals and rhythm acoustic guitar; Jordan Tice (Hawktail) on acoustic guitar; Maya de Vitry on harmonies; and Alex Wilder on Wurlitzer.

Set up with a big sound, vocals close to the mic, and instruments occupying just the right spaces, Hannah sings from the depths of her soul straight into yours. Family is a tough thing for some folks: “Blood alone is not enough / And bending to your will isn’t love / It’s give and take / But you take what I give and break it.” Some of us have lived this heartbreak.

“Blood Alone” is a heart cry – It is both a lament and a rallying of spirit. To me, it deals with family, and what that really means. I felt a deep resonance and understanding from Maya, writing this with her. It was our first ever cowrite. Maya has become a sort of soul family member, and singing this with her felt like singing with a sister. Her harmony is the perfect support to convey the spirit of this song. – Hannah Delynn
