It’s intriguing to consider that one being could take away another’s sins. This song explores that concept in a dark, playful manner. Bon Bon Vivant pulls the idea away from the macabre and resettles it as a swanky act of love and devotion. This all plays out over horns and a New Orleansean vibe.
Our video for our new single “Sin Eater” was inspired by the historic ritual of sin eating, taking on the burden or penance of someone else. Visually we wanted to make a macabre character of the Sin Eater, a death masked and dapper gentlemen dancing his way through the night turning people onto his chosen calling. We wanted to play a little with the act of sin eating, one of humanity’s darker spiritual practices, where a hired Sin Eater consumes bread placed on a dead body. We twisted it a bit and present the concept as an unflinching and deep act of love, for our love song. The bars and evening streets of the French quarter made for a perfectly appropriate setting for our video for “Sin Eater.” – Abby Cosio
