Dyer Davis “Have Mercy”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Dyer Davis’ song “Have Mercy” from his new album Kiss the Ring, which is set to be released on June 13th. Kiss the Ring was recorded at Studio Live; produced by Dyer; mixed by Aaron Swihart; and mastered by Brian Bassett.
“Have Mercy” is Dyer Davis (songwriter) on guitars and lead vocals; Warren Beck on keyboards; David Weatherspoon on drums; Will Weiner on bass and background vocals; and Sawyer Swihart on pedal steel.
Dyer grew up steeped in the blues, and his instincts broadcast that indisputably in this song, with a fluidity and ease that only comes from true familiarity. The song has a contemporary vibe with widespread appeal, though it’s built on a base of the blues. His heartfelt crisp and clear vocals are an added bonus.
“Have Mercy” is another song on this record that means a lot to me. It discusses the way I feel about myself and is written as a message to both God and my wife to have mercy on me. I have a lot of internal battles that I deal with, and sometimes I’m not great at keeping them internal. That’s when I ask for grace. I am only human after all just like everyone else, and I’m not sure I deserve the life I have, but I’m damn grateful for it. – Dyer
