Jubal Lee Young – “Don’t Be A Dickhead”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Jubal Lee Young’s song “Don’t Be a Dickhead” from his forthcoming album Squirrels, which is set for release this summer. This song will be available on May 16. Squirrels was produced by Markus Stadler at Bumpin’ Heads Studio in Nashville and mastered by Alex McCullough at True East Mastering,
“Don’t Be A Dickhead” is Jubal Lee Young on vocals and guitar; Markus Stadler (Michael Martin Murphey) on mandolin, dobro, and vocals; Christian Sedelmeyer (Kacey Musgraves) on fiddle; and Charlie Pate (Lee Ann Womack) on bass.
Jubal Lee tells it like it is, but softens the blow at the same time, and the mood and the stringed instruments are both delightful. How often have you wanted to just tell someone not to be a dickhead lately? “Don’t be a dickhead, it’s what the good Lord said. Quit acting like a bunch of godless jerks.” Play it and let it stick in your head for the rest of the week – it’s that appealing.
A friendly reminder for the times. It bothers me to see folks wrap themselves up in some Jesus and then act like complete assholes. A fun song for those of us who act right, maybe a gentle nudge for some who don’t. Don’t be a dickhead. – Jubal Lee
