Charlotte Morris – “created me”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Charlotte Morris’ song “created me” from her forthcoming album Both Sides, which is set for release on May 1. Both Sides was produced by William Gawley; mixed by Bryce Roberts; and mastered by Sage Audio.

Musicians on “created me” are Charlotte on vocals, background vocals and violin; Wayne Killius on drums; Pat McGrath on acoustic and electric guitars; Dave Francis on bass; and Chris Nole on piano and keys.  This song about all the branches and connections on a family tree; it’s sung softly and gently as a bittersweet reflection. The song is incredibly moving as Charlotte sings of the legacy of generations of family amidst a very pleasant, thoughtful musical arrangement.

“created me” is for my mother, my father, my sister, my grandparents… and every generation before that. It’s hard for one song to capture decades of gratitude, but it is, at least, a small bit of thanks to all those who have shaped me, whether first hand or further removed. With this song, I hoped to capture the laughter, dreams, and quirks, wholly unique to my family, passed down through time. The song is about recognizing the invisible threads that bind us to our past and celebrating that legacy of love & identity. I hope this track inspires you to reflect on your own roots and the beautiful complexity of being part of something greater than ourselves. – Charlotte Morris
