Allie Colleen – Sincerely, Rolling Stone
Allie Colleen’s ambitious, personal, and vulnerable 5-song EP Sincerely, Rolling Stone combines country-rock melodies, storytelling seriousness, and a rebellious confidence, as she explores heartbreak and identity in a masterfully country rock-n-roll way.
“Grass on the Grave” comes on with heavy power chords and the song fills in what struggle of trying to please someone feels like: “sometimes you have to leave some things behind / it was never getting better / it was supposed to be forever now I wake up and it’s gone.” Later, on “Oklahoma Mountains” the electric guitar comes on brightly and weaves in layers “they say home is where the heart it, god I know that’s right, it keeps me up at night.”
The EP preserves the classic country tradition while advancing the emerging country-rock sound, spicing it up with the rage of a Paramore-era punk-pop band. Explosive, edgy, and honest, Colleen’s true-to-self songwriting style shines through. The guitar work is exceptional, the production is pristine, and the team behind this record is just as talented as Allie herself. Their love and respect for Allie Colleen and her vision is evident, both in their work and speech. Here is quote from co-writer Matt Wynn: “Allie is one of my favorite voices and people in this town. It is truly an honor to write such a deeply personal song like “Oklahoma Mountains” with her, mainly because we have been friends for so many years and have traveled many miles playing shows together around the country. It has been a privilege to watch her grow so much, not only as an artist and songwriter but as a person.”
Sincerely, Rolling Stone features co-writers Matt Wynn and Jon Kraft, as well as production from Alyssa Trahan, Krystal Polychronis, Craig Wilson, Eric Dodd, Connor Sweet, Megan Barker, and Lockwood Bar. Check out “Sincerely,” out now!
