Erin Gibney – “not something i’ve told my friends”

Erin Gibney has a new song “not something i’ve told my friends,” due to be available on January 10 via Rock Ridge Music.  It was produced by Paul Ebersold, and mastered by mayfield mastering.

“not something i’ve told my friends” is Erin on vocals, with Paul Ebersold and Nathan Dugger playing all of the instruments. This song was co-written by Erin and Landon Austin.

Erin has managed to find a unique topic for this song, which isn’t easy in a brand new breakup song these days. How often do we backslide with the ex after leaning heavily on our friends to get us through the separation, only to hesitate to confess it to them, because we know what they’ll say.  Erin nails the delivery here, singing with palpable honesty: “I hate that I’m lying / And I swear that I’m trying / Sometimes i think i miss the pain / We’re talking again / And that’s not something that I’ve told my friends / Cuz I know they’d be right”

I am so excited to be releasing, “not something i’ve told my friends,” into the world. This song is about the cycle of going back to your ex after the breakup. I went through this experience following my long-term relationship a few years back. I remember feeling incredibly confused and a bit guilty. My friends had been there with me, helping me through every emotion of our breakup, and I felt like I was almost betraying them by talking to him. This song was born from those conflicting feelings. – Erin Gibney
