Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of The Scarlet Goodbye’s song “Speedway,” written by Dan Murphy and Jeff Arundel and part of their forthcoming album El Camino Adios, which is slated for release in early 2025 via Virgin Records.  The album was produced by Jeff Arundel, mixed by Jeff Arundel and Rob Genadek, and mastered by Rob Genadek.

“Speedway” is Dan Murphy on guitars, baritone guitar and vocals; Jeff Arundel on keyboards and backing vocals; Pat Nelson on bass; Ben Peterson on drums; and Amy Spartz on background vocals.

The video was created by Jon Herchert and John Fields.  This song is an ode to the dirt bike Saturday night speedway experience.

“Speedway” is  a mid-tempo sing along that was written after a sprint car race at the Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin, presented by The World Of Outlaws, right before July 4th in 2023 when the Canadian Prairie fires were burning – giving the event an almost apocalyptic feel. I heard a winning driver say that the… “track felt racy that night”… I also noticed there were no I.P.A.’s for sale at the concession stand. It is all revealed in the song I suppose. I really tried to conjure up a small-town County Seat – Rural Americana view and the speedway was a place where it came together in the end. – Dan Murphy
