Sounding like a folksier Alanis Morissette, Emily Hicks breaks through the obstacles we sometimes set out for relationships, and accepts her weird, wild, wonderful partner as just that – a human being. It’s nice to hear a love song make sense like this one.
I wrote this song about my weird husband. People my age tend to be picky when it comes to relationships, but I’ve been with my husband for 10+ years now and truthfully, my checklist of “what I want in a perfect partner” completely went out the window when I met him. It’s not that he didn’t fit the list, it’s that I fell so in love with the person he is, flaws and all, that “perfect” didn’t matter anymore. – Emily Hicks
