Emma Jo – “Walk”
Americana Highways presents this video premiere of Emma Jo’s song co-written with Craig Wilson, “Walk,” from her recently released album Girl Bandit. Girl Bandit was produced by Craig Wilson; mixed and engineered by Charlie Chamberlain at Forty-One Fifteen in Nashville; and mastered by David Browning.
“Walk” is Emma Jo on vocals; Craig Wilson on acoustic guitar and organ; Charlie Chamberlain on electric guitar; John Salaway on drums and percussion; and Adam Beard on bass. There’s something about the way this song highlights a powerful mama’s advice that double its appeal from the already appealing message: when you’re treated badly, just walk away. Emma Jo has a winner here.
All the time, I meet girls and women who have been made to feel less than they are. All the time. At every show, when I play this song, I talk to someone who says ‘thank you for the empowering message.’ I remember only a few years ago being stuck in an abusive relationship and feeling like I needed someone’s permission or approval to walk away from that terrible situation. This song is my way of giving out permission slips to anyone who feels like they need one. We tried to give the video a fun, empowering spirit to show that there’s so much life on the other side of those bad relationships. – Emma Jo
