Goodnight, Texas – “The Ghost of DB Cooper”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Goodnight, Texas’ song “The Ghost of DB Cooper” from their forthcoming album Signals, which will be available on July 19.  This song will be out on May 22. Signals was produced by Avi Vinocur and Patrick Dyer Wolf; recorded by Ian Pellicci at Brothers (Chinese) Recording in Oakland, California; mixed by Jay Pellicci; and mastered by Amy Dragon of Telegraph Mastering in Portland, Oregon.

Musicians on “The Ghost of DB Cooper” are Avi Vinocur on vocals, guitars, mandolin, banjo, piano, bass, and cowbell; Patrick Dyer Wolf on vocals, guitars, banjo, piano, and percussion; Scott Padden on drums and percussion; and Chris Sugiura on bass and backing vocals.

Delving into local folklore, Goodnight, Texas mined a righteous story here from Seattle, of D.B. Cooper following folks around, and it’s  “I’m being followed by you-know-who” over a fast paced, grungy alternative electric celebration.  Turn it up and reap the benefits of Goodnight, Texas.

I find nothing more interesting than unbelievable stories from the past that seem unsolvable – and none are more wild than that of D.B. Cooper. I am always looking for ways to combine my love of researching history, writing lyrics and telling stories and this paired all three with this Violent Femmes-esque barnburner that had been in our back pocket for a while. Also, with The Ghost of D.B. Cooper we are finally adding Seattle, Washington to the ever growing list of geographical locations featured in Goodnight, Texas songs. – Avi Vinocur
