The Lost Weekend Band – “Sunlight”

Americana Highways presents this premiere of The Lost Weekend Band’s song “Sunlight,” from their forthcoming EP  One Hell of A Time. The EP was recorded at Plyerz Studios and Dave’s Room.  It was  produced, engineered, and mastered by Paul Fig (Alice in Chains, Slipknot).  Who’s the Lost Weekend Band? There’s a lot in the name that’ll tell you all you need to know, with a team up between “country” Hardcore Dave, a heavy country band and Paul Fig at the controls, it’s a wild ride.

“Sunlight” is Hardcore Dave on vocals and harmonica; Parker Richey on lead and acoustic guitars, pedal steel,  mandolin and backing vocals; Eliot Lorango on bass; Joey Ponchetti on backing vocals, drums and percussion; Carl Byron on piano, organ, and accordion; and Jason Moore on backing vocals.

“Sunlight” is a rambunctious, but still under control roadhouse number with runaway train harmonica and dancing electric guitar solos. The Lost Weekend’s music captures the rollercoaster of life, with a splash of punk and classic country, and there are accounts of Hardcore Dave jumping off amps onstage with his custom made cowboy hat some of the time. This is a high energy honky tonk rig that can sometimes pull a tear or two from your eye too.

“Sunlight” — I wrote this after a break up. I was soothing my broken heart like every other country singer—by drinking. After enough of these nights, I would wake up to the sun screaming through the window and think, pull the shades, hide my throbbing head and aching heart. Of course, in that there’s always the girl that you meet at some bar or show, but then the next day she is no where to be seen. Maybe I imagined her … maybe I just got too drunk. Really on stage with the band is where I am truly happy. Home alone at the end of the night, when the rush fades and the girls take another fella home, is when you realize how good those hot lights feel. – Hardcore Dave
