Teresa Storch Band – “It’s Not Okay”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Teresa Storch Band’s song “It’s Not Okay” from their forthcoming album Open Your Heart, which is scheduled to be released on April 26th. This song will be available on March 8.
The album was produced by Tony Dickinson and Teresa Storch Band; and recorded at Cinder Sound Studios in Longmont, Colorado; and at Coupe Studios in Boulder, CO by Christopher Wright
“It’s Not Okay” is Teresa on vocals and acoustic guitar; Peter Lacis on electric guitar; Chad Mathis on bass guitar and piano; and Christopher Wright on drums.
“It’s just how you were raised … I’ll ignore it … I won’t react to keep my job…” are unfortunately thoughts that have run through any woman’s mind, for decades and centuries running right down through today. Teresa sings the thoughts and the messages so you can’t ignore them and turn the other way, with resounding electric roots rock guitar chords and a resounding message.
The lyrics for “It’s Not Okay” were written in 2015 after learning of the Brock Turner rape trial. I was appalled and felt that a woman’s voice needed to be added to the conversation. It’s perhaps no coincidence the #MeToo movement started shortly after. The song is still a powerful message and we’re proud to be releasing the official recording of it for International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2024. – Teresa Storch
