Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Matt Blake’s song “Hiding in Plain Sight” from his forthcoming Cheaper to Fly, which will be available on March 23 via JTM Music. Cheaper to Fly was produced by Doug Pettibone; engineered by David Spreng with additional engineering by Seth Horan. It was mixed by Craig Brock, and mastered by Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone. The album was primarily recorded in Los Angeles at Dave’s Room with some additional recording in Oxnard, California at Tower 4 Studios. This song is dedicated to the memory of Don Heffington (1950-2021).

This video was directed with cinematography by Finn Bjornerud. There’s something being dragged in a large bag of questionable shape, with a sheriff snooping around outside with binoculars while you are using a cleaver to chop vegetables for your dinner. This song comes from the feeling of feeling invisible, which I think is a pretty universal feeling everybody feels at one time or another. It’s a funny thing, but not always. I think the song and video make light of it all. – Matt Blake
