Starr & Stucky – “Good As Gone”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of David Starr and Erik Stucky’s song “Good As Gone” (written by David) from their forthcoming album Starr & Stucky, which is due to be released later this year. The album was produced by David Starr and Mark Prentice, and mixed and mastered by David Kalmusky. This song originally appeared on David’s 2018 album South & West in a full band version.
“Good As Gone” is David Starr on vocals and acoustic guitar with Erik Stucky on mandolin.
Fans have been hoping for a project with the two of them together since seeing their exciting live shows, and once you press play on this song you’ll see why. Clearly the fans are onto something – this configuration is red hot. “Living in a world of hurt … no easy retreat… too much time in the rearview mirror, I gotta keep moving’ on. She’s calling my name but I can’t hear her, color me good as gone.”
“Good As Gone” began as a simple guitar riff one morning while I was having my coffee. Very quickly, I realized it had the potential to be a really good traveling song. It just had that feel. I put some lyrics with it that seemed to match the mood, and that’s how it all came together. It’s a fan favorite when Erik and I play it together; he really shines on it! – David Starr
