Albert Cummings – “Emmylou”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Albert Cummings’ song “Emmylou,” a co-write with Tom Hambridge. “Emmylou” is part of Albert’s forthcoming album Strong, which is due to be released this Friday.  Strong was produced by Tom Hambridge; mixed and mastered by Michael Saint-Leon and Tom Hambridge at The Switchyard in Nashville; and engineered by Zach Allen and Michael Saint-Leon with engineering assistance by Sam McNeese.  Christina Cummings was the executive producer and Keven Fahey is credited with collaboration.

“Emmylou” is Albert on guitar and vocals; Tom Hambridge on drums, percussion and background vocals; Kenny Greenberg on guitar; Bob Britt on guitar; Kevin McKendree on keyboards; Tommy MacDonald on bass; and Wendy Moten on background vocals.

Blues rock, electric guitars, punchy drums and a deep swagger are the characteristics of this hard driving song.  Emmylou is the daughter of the owner of the diner, and has caught someone’s eye for certain in this song.  “Ohhhhhhh Emmylou.”  Albert and the band have an undeniable, big stage energy.  “Strong” makes sense as an album title for his music.  Check it.

Emmylou is one of those songs about everyday life encounters. We’ve all met someone like Emmylou somewhere along the way! – Albert Cummings
