Eric Brace & Thomm Jutz – “Simple Motion”
Americana Highways brings you this new song by Eric Brace & Thomm Jutz, “Simple Motion,” the title track from their album forthcoming on February 16 via Red Beet Records. This song, however, will be dispersed into the world on January 19th. The album was produced by Thomm Jutz and Eric Brace.
“Simple Motion” is Eric and Thomm on guitars and vocals; Mark Fain on bass; Lynn Williams on drums; Tammy Rogers on fiddle; Mike Compton on mandolin; Justin Moses on dobro and banjo; and Jeff Taylor on accordion.
Rich banjo and acoustic delights are what you might expect from a recording by these two, along with a catchy beat and easy stringed melodic guitar playing in turns, but this one is special because in addition to all that, the harmonies are extra compelling as their vocals vibrate closely together. In fact, both their voices and their guitar playing very closely resemble the two parallel lines of railroad tracks they sing about.
The parallel lines of railroad tracks helped define the North American continent, moving freight and people
from one place to another. And sometimes (as a great folk song reminds us), the same old train that brought you here is gonna carry you away again. Paul Simon sang that everybody loves the sound of a train in the
distance. Some insomniacs might disagree. – Eric Brace
