Erin Viancourt – Won’t Die This Way
Cleveland native Erin Viancourt quietly released and album last summer, Won’t Die This Way on Cody Jinks’ Late August Records. This album was co-produced, engineered and mixed by Kyle Dreaden and co-produced by Erin.
“Cheap Paradise” is a mellow rocker, and ode to the friendly dive bars that a good candle and a glass of wine just can’t duplicate. “Crazy in My Mind” features a great music arrangement, with layers of tones sounding like the country versions of the Grateful Dead, and a serious lyrical message beseeching honesty.
“Straight Down the Barrel” will bring up visions of bar dancing with its celebratory rockin’ kick.
“Pray” is an introspective number, slowed down and reflective.
“Some Things Never Get Old” reminisces about long white cotton curtains blowing in the wind, having a beer with an old friend, and driving down the road, and Erin’s vocals hit the twangy sweet spot.
“Old Time Melody” follows suit, a love song about how simple it should be, and visions of an ideal lifetime together -“we’ll keep it sweet like those old country tunes we like to sing, I think you and I will be like an old time melody.”
Musicians on the album are Erin Viancourt on vocals, backing vocals and acoustic guitar; Jordan Harizin on 12-string acoustic guitar, backing vocals, electric and and acoustic guitar; Jack Lenter on acoustic and electric guitars; Alex Lyon on bass, drums, percussion, bongos and acoustic guitar; Mike Daly on dobro and pedal steel guitar; Austin Webb on electric and acoustic guitars; baritone guitar, mandolin and banjo; Dylan Jones on keyboards; Austin Tripp on pedal steel guitar; and Benjo Markus, Bre Kennedy, Hadley Kennary, Logan Coats and Melissa Erin on backing vocals.
