Alan Schlaifer – “Waiting For the Rain”

Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Alan Schlaifer’s song “Waiting For the Rain.” The song was written by Alan; produced by Steve McCormick; mixed by Kevin Smith (Ben Harper, Jackson Browne); and mastered by Ron Boustead. Produced by Steve McCormick in Los Angeles with a strong cast of LA based players, the song is rainy day heartland rock.

“Waiting For the Rain” is Alan Schlaifer (The Wholesome) on guitars, mandolin, and lead vocals;
Steve McCormick (Love Me in the Dark, Mark Joseph) on slide guitar, baritone guitar, and backing vocals; Tony Braunagel (Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt) on drums;  Ricky “RC” Cortes  (John Mayall, Coco Montoya) on bass; Arlan Oscar (Joe Bonamassa, Glen Campbell) on Hammond B3, Wurlitzer piano, and accordion; Eric Heywood (Son Volt, Calexico, Jeffrey Foucault) on pedal steel guitar; Heather Donavon (Melody Gardot, Keb’ Mo) and Sophie Holt (Ted Lennon, Tom Freund) on backing vocals.

This video was created by Alan Schlaifer.  A lyric video with images of rain, nature, humanscapes and, perhaps, the one that got away, this brings the point home: “When you’re waiting for the rain, you don’t need to explain, that you’re waiting for the rain.”  Reflective and nostalgic and with vocal shades of Petty, this is good music.

It’s a song about expecting the worst and it’s nobody business but your own. – Alan Schlaifer
