Jefferson Berry – “Come Down in Time.”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Jefferson Berry’s cover of the song “Come Down in Time,” from his forthcoming album Dreams of Modern Living, due to be available on January 27. Dreams of Modern Living was produced by Jefferson along with Brian Flanagan.  It was engineered and mastered by Matt Muir, with cover design by Katie Conway McGlade.  The song was originally written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin (Universal Publishing).

In addition to this solo folk album, Jefferson Berry and the UAC will have a new album releasing next spring, Prairie Fire.

“Come Down in Time” is Jefferson Berry on guitar and vocals.  The video, with Jefferson playing solo acoustic against spiraling, trippy backdrops, was directed by Brian Flanagan.  Berry’s thoughtful playing instincts and vocal delivery bring a palpable depth of feeling to an exquisite song.

In 1970, before the Yellow Brick Road Album launched Elton John’s glam-rock persona, he was thought of as a singer songwriter folk artist along the lines of James Taylor and Paul Simon. This piece off of Tumbleweed Connection connected with my adolescent confusion about women. I’m not sure Elton ever had such confusion, but Bernie Taupin’s lyrics back then always hit home with me. – Jefferson Berry
