Working 9 to 5 and making ends meet while hearing about the worldwide injustices and angry motivation by falsehoods all around you sets the stage for this heartland rock song by Nick Pagliari. You’ll think you’re with Petty or John Mellencamp in Pagliari’s song about “walking the wire” in life just on the edge of the anxiety and outrage taking their toll. But the music helps you cope.
Flame was written during the summer/fall of 2020. The height of the pandemic, the civil unrest in our country magnified by the Trump administration, plus the economic instability at the time were all playing a large role in the creation of this song. I put it out there with little obscurity, almost as a cautionary tale. And although that was nearly two years ago, I believe we are still in a very frightening and fragile moment in the history of not only this country, but the entire world. — Nick Pagliari
