Americana Highways presents this premiere of Shawn Williams’ song “Someone Else,” from her upcoming album Wallowin’ in the Night. Wallowin’ in the Night was produced by Williams, recorded and mixed by Tom Stern at Blue Velvet Studio. It was mastered by Bruce Barielle.
Musicians on the album are Shawn Williams on guitar and vocals; Doug Garrison on drums and percussion; Rene Coman on bass; Casey McAllister on keys and guitar; John Fohl on guitar; Dave Easley on pedal steel; Will Darvill on fiddle; and Lynn Drury and Kelcy Mae on harmony vocals.
This song exposes the dynamics of an affair, or just being in “one of those situations,” with blunt honesty. She doesn’t hold back — she truly tells it like it is.
“Someone Else” kinda plays on the comical part about letting someone keep coming back a million times, even though you know they’ll just leave again, because there’s just someone else that they all can’t let go, someone else in the back of their mind that they just can’t shake, that they would drop you at any minute for, whether it’s an ex or someone they’ve always wanted…more than you. – Shawn Williams
