Video Premiere: Esquela “Not in My Backyard”

Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Esquela ‘s song “Not in My Backyard” from their forthcoming album A Sign From God. A Sign From God will be available on June 25, and was produced by Eric “Roscoe” Ambel and mastered by Mario Viele.

“Not In My Backyard (NIMBY)” is Esquela: Becca Frame and John “Chico” Finn on lead vocals;  Eric “Roscoe” Ambel on acoustic and electric guitars and harmony and group vocals; Mike Ricciardi on drums; Keith Christopher on bass and Mary Lee Kortes on group vocals.

The video was edited by Don Adams. You’ll be inspired to join in the merriment of this affectionate crew, as they perform the sardonic selfishness of the idea that regarding pollution, anything goes, as long as it’s not in my backyard.  The resulting catchy tune may surprise you.

When thinking about how we could get together to make a video in support of the album during COVID – pre vaccine era, I collaborated with the editor, Don Adams, and we came up with the idea of using “Not In My Backyard” because it was a good song and it seemed like we could make this one in each participant’s “backyard,” without having to get together in person.

Because iPhone cameras are so good at taking video, it makes shooting video a lot more accessible and since we didn’t really have a choice due to COVID, we ran with it. Don really pulled together great b-roll and stock footage to compliment the video footage of each band member. I liked Don’s choices, especially choosing to go with black and white for most the video and then fading out with color. Don Adams is a phenomenal editor and director and it was a great joy to work with him on this project! — John “Chico” Finn
