Song Premiere: Craig Cummings “The Gulf Between Us”

Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Craig Cummings’s song “The Gulf Between Us,” the title track from his new album due to be released on April 2.  The album was produced by Craig Cummings and Gantt Kushner; engineered by Gantt Kushner; recorded at Gizmo Recording Studio in Silver Spring, MD; and mastered by Charlie Pilzer, Tonal Park.  Cover art is courtesy of Sandy Cummings, with photography by Domenic Cicala (Tortured Artist Productions) and graphic design by Alex Cummings.

Musicians on the album are Craig Cummings on acoustic guitar and vocals; Gantt Kushner on electric and acoustic guitars and bass;  Andy Hamburger on drums and percussion; Brian Simms on accordion and keyboards; Tiffany Shanta on violin. (Wall Matthews appears on djembe on “Like Thieves.”)

Craig Cummings considers that opposites aren’t really an attraction in this song of familiar disappointment. Cummings puts together some downright catchy country rock all through this project.

“The Gulf Between Us” explores some of what keeps us apart…divergent social and political beliefs; the blurred lines between fact and opinion; the lack of willingness to compromise; and the use of religion to justify policies that deprive others of basic human rights. I wrote this song with the hope that it would provide an opportunity to discuss how we might evolve in ways that bring us closer together. — Craig Cummings
