Video Premiere: Johnny and the Mongrels “Mama Said”

Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Allow Americana Highways to introduce this video premiere of Johnny and the Mongrels’ bluesy rock song “Mama Said” from their recent release Creole Skies.  Creole Skies was produced by Joebaby Michaels and Scott Sharrard.  “Mama Said” is Johnny Ryan (lead vocals), Jeff Bostic (bass), guitarist Scott Sharrard (Gregg Allman, Levon Helm), keyboardist Bill McKay (The Derek Trucks Band, Leftover Salmon) and drummer/percussionist Eddie Christmas (The Black Crowes, Jon Cleary).

The video was produced by Jim Mimna, and filmed at Johnny’s Colorado ranch and performance shot at Dockside Studio in Maurice, Louisiana.  The song is a powerful tribute to Johnny’s mama, her own singing career, and her strong support of her sons.  With a background like that, and the message that “only love can conquer all” within the lyrics, it’s an undeniable incentive for positivity.  Let it inspire you today.

“Mama Said” is a song I had always wanted to write for my mom, Penny Lane who was a professional singer for over 40 years. She was an incredible example and source of musicianship for me growing up. The song tells that story.” – Johnny Ryan
