Video Premiere: Chamomile and Whiskey “Way Back”

Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Chamomile and Whiskey’s song “Way Back”. Chamomile and Whiskey is primarily duo Marie Borgman and Koda Kerl; “Way Back” is from their upcoming album Red Clay Heart. Red Clay Heart was produced and mixed by Ken Coomer, engineered by Jeff Piller with additional engineering by Ken Coomer, mastered by Rob Evans, and recorded at Cartoon Moon Studio in East Nashville, TN.

‘Way Back” is Marie Borgman on fiddle and vocals; Koda Kerl on guitars, piano, and vocals; Stuart Gunter on drums, percussion and vocals; Marsh Mahon on bass; Drew Kimball on guitars and vocals.

The video was shot by Eric Hurt and Produced by Jack Steinberg and it stars Emily Kresky, lead singer of Charlottesville band Dropping Julia. The album artwork was painted by Lavin, the band’s former banjo player.  In a gender-bending lip sync, this video combines nostalgia with a heightened universal feel — we all miss “way back when.” Chamomile and Whiskey hit the nail on the head with this one.

I’ve always been back and forth on music videos, I never liked trying to define the song for people but they’re fun as hell. I guess it’s just an excuse for us musicians to try and look cooler than we are.. so I just leaned into it. Instead of lip-syncing my own words I had my friend Emily Kresky do it. She’s definitely cooler than me. We filmed in the winter just before the quarantine.. I called in a bunch of favors and we packed our favorite bar, The Whiskey Jar full of friends and fans. I’m glad we had such a good time because it wound up being one of our last chances to gather like that. — Koda Ker
