Song Premiere: TheThread “High and Dry”

Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of TheThread’s song “High and Dry” from their forthcoming album House on Fire, due out on August 28.

The album was co-produced by TheThread and Wilson; engineered and mixed by Shawn Daughtery; and mastered by Joshua Reynolds.

TheThread is Caitlin Nicol-Thomas, who’s worked with Dolly Parton, Pam Tillis and the Cash family; and career musician Tyler Boydstun, who has toured opening for Charlie Daniels, Clint Black and Shooter Jennings.

With rich layers of handheld acoustic instruments, tambourine taps, sorrowful vocals and electric guitar, TheThread brings you an integrally Americana offering. “I don’t like drinkin’ in the rain,” either.

I wrote “High & Dry” with sort of a Roger Miller vibe in mind. The lyrics are a classic sad tale of a fella trying to keep his lady from leaving, but it’s set to music with a warm and happy feel to it. We really wanted to capture a live feeling on this song in the studio, so I recorded the drums and guitar at the same time, and Caitlin added a bit of Cajun fiddle feel that really brightened up the track. — Tyler Boydstun
